The MET Program - world-class professional learning for teachers wanting to become mentors for early-career teachers
About Mentoring for Effective Teaching (MET) program
The Mentoring for Effective Teaching (MET) program was designed to support early-career teachers (i.e., pre-service teachers and beginning teachers). Supporting these teachers is crucial to the development of an education system.
The Mentoring for Effective Teaching (MET) program offers world-class professional learning for teachers wanting to become mentors for early-career teachers. For more than 6 years, the 2-day MET program has been delivered to over 30 Australian institutes with more than 1200 MET facilitators trained.
This program consists of eleven (11) sessions reflecting the MET program framework. These sessions are listed in the following:
- Mentor-Mentee Relationship
- School Culture & Infrastructure
- Personal Attributes
- System Requirements
- Pedagogical Knowledge
- Modelling
- Feedback
- Observation Feedback Reflection
- REF Framework
- Tools for Mentors and Mentees
- Conflict Resolution & Leadership
MET has been refined and delivered internationally to universities in other countries such as the US, China, Italy, and the Philippines. MET aims to make a difference to early-career teachers’ practices by ensuring mentors have researched-based knowledge and skills for supporting and guiding their mentees.
Registration is AUS$275 for three-months access to the MET program online. There are 11 sessions with activities related to each MET session. The program will take approximately 20 hours (12 hours for engaging in the sessions and 8 hours to complete the activities).
